WELLINGTON, May 9. Announcing tlie gazetting of Building Construction Control Notice No. 20 and tivo rescinding notices, the Minister ot Works, Hon. R. Kemple, stated tonight that all reniaining controls ali'ecting the Imiltjing industry were. now contained in .-oue coucise notice., V Nqtices in the :Gazette revoke a totai of 4.19 controls and reinstate 9 controls under the Building Construction Control Notice No. 20. Mr. Semple pointed out that although, owing to eontinuing difficulties ot supply, it was still necessary to mai ti tajn eertain of the building controls, considerable relief was being alfordeiJ the Building and Allied Industries in this instance as control of the release of materials through the permit system was virtually eliminated. Building Construction Control Notice No. 20 sets out the limited purposes for which galvanised iron (new or second.hand), copper, copper tube, electric con duit, corrugated, asliestos and ceinent sheets may be used but allows the release and sale of materials for tliese speeified purposes without application lieiug made to the building control ler. It will still be necessary, however, foi M.R. 125 applications to be submitted to the Factory Controller for the release of galvanised iron for the manufarture of such items as rubbish cans, hollow vvare, etc. -Building Construction Con trol Notice No. 20 also reinstates tlie requirements of Timber Control Notict No. 55 dealing with the manufacture ot doors and, of course, continued Mr. Remple, provision is made i'or continuance of control on the issue of building permits. Full details of tliese aniend ments to existing Building ConstructioiControl Notices have been despatched by the Building Controller to all building and allied organisations.
