MANGAORE CLUB OPENS
The Mangaore Golf Club opened its 1946 season on Saturday in fine weather. There were q, large number of mernbers and visitors present. In declaring the chtb open, the president (Mr. Elvines) thariked those who had worked so hard to get the links in such good order, and said that the coming season promised to, be a successful one. Mr. Elvines ,extended a welcome to the visitors, and voiced the - hope that they would have a good day's play. Mrs. Elvines played the first ball of ths season from the club^ house. Play for the afternoon took the form of a mixed foursome, the winner! being Mrs. H. Pope and Mr. Elvines. ' A. successful day was brought to an enjoyable conclusion with the holding of an openifig dance in the sociaj hall. Shannon Competitions The competition ihatehes at the Buckley links on Saturday were a Stableford and a stroke competition. The winner of the Stableford was Mr. W. Stern, with a score 'of 39 points, F. Picard was second with a score of 33 points aird N. Birch third with 32 points. "Members are reminded of the stroke competition to be piayed fiext Saturday.
