HARVEST FESTIVAL
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR BRITAIN Harvest festivals were heid in the Shannon Presbyterian Church as usual this year with the difference that, instead of the offerings in kind being sold for the benefit of church funds at a soeial gathering on thel following day, members of the con-j gregation brought tinned foods of) every description, as well as soap and soap powders, to send to private needy persons' in England, the addresses of whom had been obtained by the Rev. u . W. Martin from a church organisation there. There was a splendid response and this week several of - the 30 to 40 seven-pound parcels, ea'ch with a Slip of paper with the narhe of a member of the congregation inscribed, were posted. The postage is 3s 4d on each of these, and to meet this expenditure sums of monqy have been donated. 5
