The new Government statistiCian will be Mr. G. E. F. Wood, M.A., who. L'ecently returned from Palestine. He had been seconded from the New Zealand Statistical Department to the British .Colonial Service in 1918 and was the Palestine Goyernment Statistician for seven years, earning high reeognition for his ability in developing the country's statistical organisation. ; The , nominees for two New Zealand District Governorships of Rotary International, * the 52nd and i 53rd districts, Mr. Blair Tennent, oi s Palmerston North, and Brigadiei ; Sir Herbert Hart, of Masterton, will [leave Auckland this morning on ; the vessel Esparta, to attend the j Rotary Conferences in the United [States. Sir Herbert said they would I attend a business gathering of Ro- [ tary at Swampscott, near Boston, at [ the end of this month and the Ro- ; tary International Convention at 1 Atlantic City in the first week of | June. The appointments will be con- ! hrmed in the United States where the nominees intend staying for a i month.
