A large ■ nurhbeiy of students w;ere also injured. The Exchange Telegraph . correspondent says t'he demo'nstrations broke out foiiowing reports that the British did not want to evacuate Egypt. 1 a communique by .the Egyptian Prime Minister, Sidky ' 'PashaJ described the situation in Alexandria as serious. It added that the students used stones," guns and at least two hand gren'ades against the , police., The public prosecutor has been instructed to make an immediate, on the spot, investigation of the clash. The correspondent > says that the students were held at bay in jthe university grounds ' all morning, after attempting to march out and hold the . demonstratiori. A member of the university faculty, who escaped, says that the students capItured two soldiers, and rifle shots j 1 fired shortly afterWards killed a i poiiceman in the street.
