SURPLUS OF £4496
POWER BOARD'S YEAR As a result of its year's work-. ing the finances of the Horowhenua Power Board show a surplus of £4,496. This was disciosed in a lengthy report given • to the board at its annual meeting on Tuesday by the man-aging-secretary (Mr. R. A. Frederikson). The gross income totalled £101,892. The main item of . revenue was electricity saies ■ amounting to £92,035, which was reduced to £85,651 after the deduction of £6,384 in discounts. Domestic supply realised £56,418 of the total, commercial supply £12,095, rural supply £11,960, industrial power £10,159 and street lighting £1376. The saies of electricity represented an in- ' •crease of £3,756 over 1945. Other tems oL revenue >vere trading accounts £956, interest earned £737 and cottage rents £334. The expenditure for the year was £83,256, the principai items being power purchased £42,392; maintenance and general distribution charges £14,106, management and general £7,252, interest on loans £7,369 and sinking funds and principai repay- . ments £9,428.
