OTAKI CLUB NOTES

Over the Easter week-end the Otaki Club played a two-day competition over 36 holes. Several Levin members were present, and on the Sunday, the best card was returned by one of these visitors, J. Tomlinson on 24, with a nett score of 67. The Stableford on the second day was won by another Levin player, D. Tomlinson 22, with a total of 42 points. C. D. Melville, of the same club, also played a very fine round. being only one point behind the winners. The honours of the 36-hole medal round went to Grey Bros., Zane being the winner with two excellent rounds of 69 — 68, and his br other, Ted,. second with 71 — 70. These two players are shooting excellent rounds, and the handicapper, Mr- John D'Ath,- Will 110 doubt give them due attention. The visitors evidently found the going very much to their liking, for they doubled their attendance on the second day, and were generous with their praise of the greens and fairways. The Otaki Club has held its annual open tournament on King's Birthday week-end for many years, and this time a record number of j entries is anticipated. The tourneyj will be held on Sunday and Monday, June 2 and 3, and the course will be open to all Yis.it.ing competitors on,

the Saturday for practice rounds. It is regrettable that the Levin Club intends to alter its tourney to this holiday, as the best interests of golf are not being served when two neighbouring clubs clash with their most important function of . the season.
