CROQUET SEASON ENDS

LEVIN CLUB'S CLOSING The official closing of the Levin Croquet Club took place recently when the trophies won during the year were presented by the . president (Mrs. W. Bull) . The president first called on Mrs. C. Sherwood to present the Sherwood Cup to the ManakaJu Club, which had won it for three eonsecutive years. The captain (Mrs. Bryant) accepted the cup, which is competed for by the clubs of Manakau, Foxton, Otaki and Shannon, and said how much the members had enjoyed playing for the trophy. The Levin Club this year succeedea in winning the banner for interclub play at Palmerston North. This is the first time that the banner has been won by Levin, and it was presented recently at a gala day in Palmerston North. Afternoon tea was served by the Levin members and the remaindei of the day was spent in competitions, which were won by Mrs. Read Manakau, and Mesdames Fraser and McLean of Levin. The winners of the club trophies for the season were: — Sherwood Cup: Manakau 1, runner-up, Levin; Kirk Cup: Mrs. Pine 1, runner-up, Mrs. Holdaway; all day tournament : A, Mrs. Fraser; B, Mrs. Gilmour; Brown Buttons: A, Mrs. Pine; B Mrs. Dalzell; learner's trophy donated and presented by Mrs. A. Mudgway: 'Mrs. Williams, runnerup, Mrs. Mackay.
