WELLINGTON,, April 29. A Supplementary Gazette has been issued this mor.ning contain- j ihg the personhel ahd order of reterence of the Royal Commission to inquire into and report upon garning ahd racing matoers in New Zealand. The personnel of the Commission is: Mr. Justice Finlay, of Auckland (chairman); Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., of Hamilton; and Mr. J. W. A. Heenan, Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, of Wellington. The Commission is appointed to inquire into the ekisting law reiatlrig to gaming, the present administration and control of practices reiating to racing and generally all other matters connected with gaming and racing, and to examine and report upon the proposals that may be made for amending the law, administration and control of these matters in New Zealand in the public interest, j and also to make such proposals as it thinks fit. It is also generally ! required to inquire into and report l upon siich other matters arising out j of the premises as may come before I its notice in the course of its ! inquiries, and which it considers j should be investigated in connec- ! tion therewith, and upon any j matters affecting the premises j which it considers should be I brought to the attention of' the j Government. j The Commission is empowered to ! visit various centres in the Domin- 1 ion, and is directed not to publish j or otherwise disclose, save to the Governor-General, the contents of ; any report made by it, or any evi- j dence or informations obtained by • it, except such evidence or infor- j mation as is received in the course ! of sitting in open to public. The Commission is also required to present its report to , the j Governor-General not later than August' 31 of this year. j
