AT OTAKI STATE SCHOOL

On Wednesday the children of the Otaki State School assembled i on the verandah of the new sehoolroom, when Canon Fry delivered the devotional part of the service. The Address was given by Generai R. Young, who spoke to the children on the spirit oi Anzac Day. He said that before he had gone to^ Gallipoli he liad been in one small battle, while- his venture in the battle of Gallipoli was likened to a practice football match, and then being selected to play for New Zealand against South Africa. He said that a war brought out the best in men, and he hoped the' children would respect the spirit of Anzac Day. After the singing of hymns and the National Anthem, ' the child- . ren, under Mr. James, assembled in formation and placed wreaths on the school memorial. s>
