DUNEDIN, April 23. The strength of the New Zealand Armed Forees both m New Zealand and overseas, amounts at the -present time to approximately 23,000 men. This information was given today by the Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones.' The Minister said there were approximately 6000 men in the army iji New Zefilaiid, exclusive of soipp J000 nrep being trained to replaee the brigade of 4Q00 now on occupational duties in Japan. In the Air Fore'e there were 6000 in the Dominion and overseas and in the Navy there were sppie 3,QQ0, including men serving Qyerspas, "The Minister added that the first relief for the J Porce, eonsisting of approximately 2000 men, would sail towards the end of next nionth or af the beginning of June. They wqujd be followed as soon as shipping- permitted by the remainder qf the relief.
