SYDNEY STORM ABATES
8YDXEY, April 17. The e.ye.lonie storm Whicli sinee 8undav has caused falls of 10 inches of rain in the 8vd nev area eased eonsiderably last night. Today only liglit falls are expected and the wind has moderated. At its height the gale caused a 15-hour suspension of the Manly ferry servicje after vesftels had been damaged and four passengers injured. Tents and makeshift accommodation in X'orth Sydnev suburbs suffered badly through floods and wind. The Minister of Labour (Mr. Hamilton Knight) has issued instructiohs to officials to take over publie halls if necessary and to issue blankets, elothing and money to campers in distress. The flood waters swamped parks and reserves in low-lying parts of 8yd ney. Cook's River rose to its highest in three years.
