BOWLING MATTERS

— — - OTAKI CLUB MEETS The monthly meeting of the Otaki Bowiing Club was held on Monday evening, the president. (General R. Young) -occupying ..the. chair. An apology for absence was received from the secretary (Mr. Avery), but all other members were present. A letter was read from the Foxton. Club stating that a tournament will be held there on Easter Saturday and Monday, commencing at 10 a.m. each day. — Received. The Wellington Centre wrote granting permission for the club to hold a one-day tournament during the Easter holidays. — Received. Replying to the club's letter in regard to proxy voting at the centre's meeting on Aprii 9,'a letter was received from the president of the Wellington Centre (Mr. Guise) , stating that it was understood that Mr. Mclntyre, Otaki's delegate, was resignihg, but that Mr. J. F. Cunninghame, a past president of the Newtown Club, was agreeable to accept the position. Mr. Cunninghame was a keen bowler, was at one time Mayor of Ohakune and a member of the Manawatu Bowiing Centre,- but was at present green supervisor at Newtown. It.was sugeested that Mr. Cunninghame act

as Otaki's delegate when Mr. Mclntyre was unable to attend. The meeting decided to first ascertain if Mr. Mclntyre' was resigning, and if so to favour the appointment of Mr. Cunninghame. It was reported that as the Otaki Railway Club had been unable to play for the Olliver shi'eld on the date arranged, enquiries had been made as to whether the club was willing to forfeit or m'ake an

alternative suggestion. The secretary of the Railway Club (Mr. Tanner) had written suggesting April 27 as the day for a match. A reply had been sent, asking for the number of players that the Railway Club would send. Advice had since come from. the Railway Club that four senior and one junior rinks would contest the shield match. Mr. Olliver, the donor of the shield, had been notified of the arrangements. It was decided that an endeavour be made to play the match on Saturday morning, April 27, so that the closing of the gre^n could follow in the afternoon. The matter of work on the green' preparatory to next season wa& discussed, and arrangements made for necessary work to be done. Mr. Merwood offered to supervise. A letter was read from the Raumati Club, stating that it would be pleased if Otaki would enter a rink for its tournament, to be held on Easter Monday. — Received. The Raumati South Club wrote nominating a rink for the Otaki tournament. — Accepted.
