NURSE ATTACKED BY NIGHT PROWLER

AUCKLAND, April 18. Occupants of tlie nurses ' liome adjacent the Aucldand Hospital have l-.een disturbed on several occasions recently by a night prowler,"-the inatler reaching a climax last uiglrt -vvhen a nurse slceping in a first floor bedroom, was attacked and left in a dazed conI dition. Earlier in the evening a man >vas seen in the nursing liome grounds by a nurse but he could uo.t^be foiind when a search was made. Later two nurses also reported seeing someone in. the grounds but although the0intrudor was followed, he again managed to escape. The prowler apparently returned. The superintendcnt of staif, hearing a-noise from one of the nurses' bedrooms later in the night, found the occupant in a dazed condition from a blow on the head and with blood corning from her nose. Shc could give no information as to what had liappened, having been asleep. No trace was found of her assailnnt who apparently climbed to The lirst floor balcony and leaned in through Ihe windpw to attack the sleeping nurse 1 vvUo was not iujured eeriously.
