The WorkS Committee reported that a certain amoiint of diSSatisfactioh had beeri expressed at the couiiCil's intentioh to topdresS the blaying atea of the Leviii Pdrk Domain, thus depriving rugby play-4 ers of the USe of t|ie groUhd for the4 begiiinihg of the season. Crs. Sherwood and Powell said they had been apprdached by football iriterests, who were concerned at being debrived of the ground. ' Splaying Of Cortiers Iri reply to a. letter from the c.ou.ncil, the Levin. R,S.A, advised that it was not anticipated that the memoriai hall, When erected, would be built up to the seetion frohtages bf either Queen or Chamberlaih Streets. Before the final plans were completed the matter of splaying the corner would agaih be taken up with the council.— Noted.
Referring to the splaying of" the corner of Bath and Chamberlaih Streets and the council's representations to it, the Wellington Education Board wrote advisihg that it was not pfepated td recommend the granting of the land for splaying back the ddfhet, hor could it appfbvC a grant fof the cost of the StitWey and legal expehses.— -This lettef was received with disappointmCnt. Easter Bread Baking No bread will be baked over the Easter peridd in Levin. Levin baker's will close on Thursday evening, reopening on Tuesday morning. To-morrow night the Levin Yoiihg ; Farmers' Club and the Juiiior W.D.F.U. are holding the ball of the Season ih the Regfeht Hall. There will be prizes and fun for all, and a Palmerston North photographer Will be preSerit. MuSiC is to be provided by the Swirig stars, a supper will be served to suit all tastes. Admission ,is only 3s and 3s 6d.
