Week-end Bowling On Saturday a te'am of Shannon bowiers visited Foxton* to play a challenge match for the Dixon Cup. After a very interesting game the result was 20 points all, Shannoii's challenge failing. The local team was: C. M. Cronquest, Edmonds, Mills and R. Bibby (s) . Kitchen Afternoon A number of friends from Shannon and surrounding districts gathered in the Parish Hall on Saturday to extend a kitchen afternoon1 td Miss Muriel Munford and Mr. Mervyn' Taylor, who are to be mafried at Easter. The Rev. -J, H. Datt: son spoke on behalf of those present, and mentioned the splenpid work done by the young couple'in connection with the church, Miss Munford being a Sunday •• School teacher. He then presented Miss Munford With a spray madfe by Mrs. Elvines. Mrs. E. L. Hyde also made mention of the fine wdrk done; for the church by the guests of honour, and wished them every happin'ess for, the future. Both' Miss Munford and Mr. Taylor suitably replied,- and" thanked their many friends for the number of beautiful and useful gifts. Musical honours were extend.ed the happy couple. The afternoon was spent in playing games, and musical items were supplied by Miss Ward, of Buckley; on the piano, while Mrs. Allerby. delighted all with vocal numbers. Mrs. Munford was at the piano. An enjoyable afternoon tea was served by the lady hostesses;
