BIG WORLD SHORTAGE OF RICE
Received Sunday 7 p.m, SINGAPORE, April 13.. 1 Lord Killearn has annopnced a worlc. ' shortage of rice of 3,000,000 tons,. Tin joint Burmo-Siamese production fo. 1946 is estimated at less than 5,000,00 tons compared with 8,000,000 tons pre war. The new production of Burma Siam and Indochina is barely sufficien" for internal needs. Normally those countries exported 6,000,000 tons.
