WELLINGTON, April 11. Tliere is still considerable discussion on the possibility o.f midweek racing being restored spon. No ministerial announcement has been made, but the pfospects of elubs being allowed to raee on other than Saturdays or holidays are remote. .Lt is knovvn that there would be strong objection from industrialists were any sueh eoncession contemplated and it is also pretty well' known that the Government fears tliat midweek racing would eause absenteeism and loss of production. The racing authorities might have coiitemplated approaching the Government for the eoncession Avhich so many engaged in racing desire, but it is more than likely they will think twice abo.it it, espdcially as tlieir chance of success does not seem rosy. Probably, racing will have to get along as it is doing now for a consideiable time to come, and if it fares 110 vvorse it will not be doing badly. Lately there have been many nnwelcome clashes, and the chances are that this staie of things will continue a while yet.
