Mrs. J. Sniith, of Christchurch, is the guest of Mr. W. S. Dustin, of Koputaroa. Mrs. J. Beckett, , of Gisborne, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. H. Denton, of Queen Street. Mrs. R. R. Buxton, . of Tirau, is spending a holiday with her p'arents, Mr. and Mrs. Burdekin, of Weraroa Road. The Rev. J. Dennis, a former !minister of St. John's Methodist Church, is spending the week-end ! in Levin and will be. conducting both the morning and evening services on Sunday. After a st'renuous 18 years as organising secretary of the Bible-in-Schools League, the Rev. E. O. Blamires is retiring from that position. He was recently made a sup'ernumerafy of the Methodist j Church. ' The Australian- Minister for the Navy (Mr. Makin) has been app'ointed Australian Minister to the United States. He will go to Washington after the return of Mr. Chifley from overseas and Will remain a member of tbe Cabinet.
