USEFUL EVENING CLASSES
HOROWHENUA COLLEGE , With the return of overseas servicemen and the consequent return of nornial peace-time conditions,. it is hoped that there Will be a greater display of ihterest in the "evening classes conducted by _ the HoroWhehua College than in the war yearS. Although the roll has increased from seve'nty at the beginning of the year to one hundred at. tne present time, it is felt that there Will be a- further increase once the fac'ts a-bout the classes become more ; widely known. . In most cases- the i tuition is practically free, . and .at the most do'es not e'xceeti £2 for a year's instruction in one subject. For those under twenty-one the paymerit would be under £1. At present classes are conducicd in dfessmakmg, motor engineerliig, sliorthand, typing, book-keeping, aceountancy and woodwork for apprehtices. There is a very large dressmaking class, and it is desired to' commehce an equivalent class for imen and women wishing to make | f timi ture. No experience is required. Tn other centres large and enthu'sjiastie classes similar to the dres'si making class at the college have been built up. Drawing and painting, design and crafts are also 'offered-, and it is expected to build I up a class of those interested.
