Real winter eonditions prevailed for training operations at Awapuni yesterday morning, and after continuai overuight rain tlie tracks were yery heavy. The No. I grass was availabie for gglioping aiid the best ligures were recorded by the Wanganui-engagcd Duplicity and Imperial. Theiolyn (Waddell) was not required to do.lri's best wliile ruhning hve furlongs in 1.14 4-5. The grdy is holding liis eoudition well, and will again have tuNbe reelconed with -at Wanganui tomorrow. Duplicity (Aitken) did not appear to be liampered b'y the going while reefing off seven furlongs in 1.39. Slie rau the lirst four smartiy in 54sec, but was tiring'at the linish.J Her form has been disappointing tliis season and at will be interesting to see how she fares at her lirst attempt over a middle dis-' tance tomorrow. Langue d'Or (Sellars) and Speed King (Bbreham) kept on terms throughout six -furlongs run in 1.27 3-5. The latter would only require to repeat his track essays to be difficult to beat in the Fordell - Hack Hurdles. "Vandra (Aitken) was timed to. complete ihe last three furlongs of her work in 45sec. Kanui te Pai (Collins) shaded Mary Jo (Aitken) at the end of seven furlongs m 1.40 3-5, the lirst four occupying 54 ■sec. Voltaic Pleasss. Imperial (Aitken) strode over six furlongs in 1.23 2-5, but did not appear Lo relish tlie going and was stopping at llre linish. The forrner is one of the most improved horses alt Awapuni and should again take a power of beating on Saturday. Rink (Aitken) was let ofi; witli an easy six furlongs in 1.26 2-5. Red Glare (Ragan) was sehooled over six hurdles and jumped in his usnal proficient style. I11 a similar task, Authoress (Eiey) fenced safely, although she did not have much pace on. After nearly coming to .grief at the lirst Lady Premier (Freda White) weut 011 to clear four steeplechase .fences satisfactorily. Gay Rouen (Fagan) again showed aptitude by clearing six of the big fences in good style. Myuet in chargc of his owner-trainer, A Griffiths, left for .Ellerslie yesterday. The Inflation gelding is to coutest the Brightou Hurdles at tlie forthcoming Auckland meeting and, in view of his recent good work at- Awapuni, his chances are regarded as being very bright. He will be ridden by L. C. Brown. , , L. C. Knapp intends taking three horses to Ellerslie at Easter. They are imperial, Yandra and Kanui te Pai. W. T. Broughton has been engaged to ride Yandra and W. Jenkins will pilot Kanui te Pai in the Brighton Hurdles.
