RIFLE CLUB OPENS
In spite of the heavy rain there was a good muster of marksmen at the opening night of the Shannon Miniature Rifle Club's 1946 season, held in the Druids' Hall on Wednesday evening. The guns were in good order, having just returned from Wellington, where they have been given a complete overhaul. Speaking yesterday, the secretary (Mr. E. Wilson) stated that now the guns have been adjusted all members will have 'to get used to them and new sight settings will have to be worked out. Comment'ing on the junior shots, Mr. Wilson said that they all showed keen bnthusiasm, and he felt sure that it will not be very long before they all become first class shots. No doubt the Hyde Shield, presented by Mrs. E. L. Hyde for the most improved junior shot, will offer much encouragement to the young members.' Individual scores were as follows: — Senior (Possible 100) : J. Lucinsky 95, A. Birss, Jnr., 93, A. Birss, Snr., 92, I. Hemmingson 92, E. Wilson 91, E. Chester 90, H. Norris 89, N. Munford 87, L.
