Received Thursday, 12.10 p.m. TOKIO, April 10. A surprisingly h'eavy vote was east in Japan's first demo- | cratic election. A total vote of from 65 to 70 per cent. is indicated in Tokio, and if this is equalled by the rest of the nation it would mean that ! twenty-five of the thirty-six j miliion eligible voters went to i the polls. Fifty per cent. of the eligible women in Tokio marked I the first ballots, which is twice ' as many as predicted by Japanese political experts. Among the candidates for the 466 seats are 81 women.
