SYDNEY, April 9. All trams ana uuses in the Sydney Metropolitan area were halted from .11 o'clock this morning for three minutes in meinory of a conductor who was killed on a tram foothoard during the weekend. [ The stoppage will also he a protest against the use of the foothoard type oi tram in which the only way the conductor can collect fares is to work his way round the outside foothoard 'vvhen the tram is moving in traffic. There ! are many trams of this type in Sydney. I The union decided to adopt this form ! of protest some months ago, expecting 1 that easualties resulting from the use oi foothoard trams would continue.
