PATRICK'S GREAT AGILITY

The thickset, dark, curly-haired Irishman, Vic. Patrick has the ! knack of hitting where it hurts most. His best def ence is his left uppercuts and his agility. To quote the Patrick-Burns hght, he has a particularly new style of boxing, the main difterence being that he carries his left glove higher to cover his jaw. Patrick usually does the leading, and when he misses he is at a disadvantage. His main idea is to attack and not wait to be attacked. In leading, he flicks his rights in to the jaw of his opponent, and then when his opponent shows signs of tiring he rushes in for the kill with left uppercuts, which he uses so effectively. When he fought Burns, the fourth round began with Burns leading and severeiy pupishing Patrick, who seemed t have lost' all power of his punches and he iooked defeated. The fifth was even worse for Patrick and he nearly hit the canvas once or twice, but in the- six-th round he surprised the fans by leading out and showing no sjgns of pumshment. It was;)r|hen that'-he. had Burns' b"eatefi,-"'for his extraordihary reserve of stamina proved too good for Burns. Burns swung lefts and rights, but Patrick's agility helped him to miss the punches, thus tiring Burns. His final punch was when Patrick, who had been flicking rights to Burns' jaw, brought up a powerful left uppercut and floored his opponent. If Bos. Murphy learns Patrick's tactics and practices, then it will prove an interesting bout.
