OPUNAKE MAN APPEALS

NEW PLYMOUTH, April 8. An appeal against the decision of the committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club in fining him and exeludiug him. for a year from the club '3 birdcage and stewards y stand for iniproper behaviour towards the judge, Mr. A. V. O'Brien, has been made by Mr. Joseph Moron, of\ Opunake, to the Taranaki District Committee. The club's decision followed incidents in the birdcage 011 the second day of the Autumn meeting at New Plymouth 011 Mareh J] • after the running of the Urenui Ilandicap, wliich Tideless won, with Royal Charter second. Two men, appellant and Mr. A. 0. O. Lloyd, of New Plymouth, were charged under Paragraphs 205 (K.) and 200 (C.) otthe Kules of Iiacing, wliich govern improper conduct towards ollicials and the penalties for sueh behaviour. After hearing an explanation,* the club's committee fined Moron £50 and Lloyd £25, as well as exeludiug luith from the birdcage and stewards' stand on all race days for a period of a year. The committee further resolved to recom mend to the Taranaki District Committee that 110 programme be approved from any club of wliich appellant is an ofHcial and to exclude Lloyd from 1110mbership of the Taranaki Jockcv Club.
