PARAPARAUMU NOTES

o . "Chronicle" Correspondent)

(From

That the peace day issue of new stamps was popular was proved by the fact that the Paraparaumu Post Office was kept busy all day selling sets to collectors, young and old. Some amusing remarks were heard as parents painstakingly stuck stamps on first day covers for the ardent young collectors away at school. The St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Paraparaumu, has been holding a four-day mission, conducted by the Very Rev. Father Cheesman, Superior Marist Missionary, Wellington. All the services were well attended. To catch two young rats in one trap on two successive days has been the experience of a poultry farmer, who set traps in his fowl house, where he suspected rats of carrying off the precious hen eggs.
