land servicemen, but whicii were allotted to Italian women and refugees embarked in Italy, was made hy New Zealand Servicemen. One soldier stated that he had left hehind him his wife, a New Zealander, who had been tryiiig ' to return t- the Dominion since the enu of the war. Similar sentiments have heen expressed hy Australian airmen. It was said they had held protest meetings on the voyage to Melbourne, They com ■ plained that, while some of them had heen married for four years and ha.d children, five Italian girls embarked were fiancees and others were only re cently married.
