RE S UMPTION OF EXPORTING WELLINGTON, April 1. The first shipment of New Zealand apples to Great Britain since 1940- will be earried by the Roslyn (^astle, leaving Wellington on April IS with 25, (HK cases. In the eai'ly months of the- war it was found necessarv to discontinne the expoi't of apples to Britain in order to conserve space on nierchant ships for more urgently needed and less btrlky food cargoes. The British markets in pre-war years reeeived from 1,000,000 to 1,700,000 cases, varying with the seasonal yield. A total of 130,000 cases is being shipped this season. The lavgest consignment will be on the Athlone Castle, which is taking a full cargo from Wellington on May S. A further 25,0()v' cases will be loaded . aboard the Fort Lincoln, which is sclieduled to saif from Wellingtop on May 1(5 for Hull. Five varieties of apples are repreesnted in the shipments — Delicious, Sturmers. Doherty, Roine Beautv and 8tatesruan.«
