WEEKLY SALE IN LEVIN The live stock market in Levin yesterday refiected the normal seasonal f alling off in size of the. yardings.. There was a Iarger yarding of sheep than last week, and the seetion was stronger in tone. A smaller :entry of dairy cows of poor quality sold readily, as did also light porkers, baconers and ehoppers. : ^ • Fat Sheep ' A good entry oi io,c sheep was yarded and in most cases realised good prices. The quotations included the following: Ewes,. 17s lOd, 19s ld, 20s lOd, 2'4s lOd, 31s lOd, 33s ld, 34s 4d to 35s lOd; b.f. ewes, 30s lOd; wrethers, 36s 4d; lambs, 20s 4d, 20s T0d, 26s 4d, 27s 4d, 28s 4d, 34s lOd, 35s lOd to 36s lOd; b.f. lambs, 14s. Pies
The yarding was not as heavy as usual but light pork, baconers and ehoppers • were in keen demand at prices as follows: Porkers, £2, £2 7s 6d, £2 15s, £3 Is to £3 5s; baconers, £4, £4 3s, £4 6s, £4 10s, £4 14s, £4 16s, £5 5s to £5 10s; ehoppers, £4, £4 5s, £4 15s, £5 5s to £6; light stores, 23s fco 26s; weaners, 10s to 14s 6d. Cattle Fat cattle generally sold well, but the entry was not as large as usual. Dairy cows close to profit were sought after and brought full late rates. The realisations were: Dairy cows, close to profit, £10s 10s to to £17 5s; weaner heifers, £2 5s to £3 15s; station cattle, £3 17s 6d, £4 2s 6d, £4 5s, £5 15s to £8; store cattle (ex-dairy), £3 10s, £3 15s, £4 10s to £5 10s; P.A. cows, £5 6s; vealers (poor quality), 12s 6d to £1 17s 6d; heavier do., £4 12s 6d, £5 12s 6d to £6 2s 6d; runners, £4 7s 6d, £4 17s 6d to £5 12S 6d; fat cows, £5 7s 6d, £5 17s 6d, £6 2s 6d, £7 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d.
