WOMAN BARRISTER MAKES HISTORY

LONDON, March 29. Miss Rose Heilbron, aged 30, a Liverpool harrister, made history when she pleaded in a legal action in the House of Lords. She is the first woman to take a case alone in the Upper House. Speaking for nearly four hours, Miss Heilbron suppressed early nervousness and firmly carried on legal argument with Lords S'imon, Porter, Simonds, Thankerton, and Uthwatt, each oi whom is old enough to be her father. She was not worried that the AttorneyGeneral Sir Hartley Shawcross, was leading for the other side. In private life Miss Heilbron is a doctor's wife.
