Although one highly-organised plot has been smashed, other more cleverly concealed organisations may still he at work. Many thou sands of former high S.S. officers and Intelligence oflicers remain untraced and at liberty in the British Zone undei assumed names. These are regarded as a natural source of regrowth of the party. Numhers of morally defeated former prisoners are now returning from British and Canadian camps aua they are also a potential danger. It was officially stated in Frankfurt fchat nearly 1000 members of the Nazi underground movement were roundea up in Saturday's raids, which were made in. nearly 200 western Germah ana Austrian towns. Brigadier-General Sihert- announced in Frankfurt that the British and Ame rican round-up of members of the Nazi underground movement on Saturday was completely successful. He deniea that the Allies used armoured forces oi encountered heavy opposition. The only shot fired was to blow off the lock of a door to force. entry to a house in which a suspect was hiding.
