. WELLINGTON, March 29.Tlxe Parliamentary members' of the National Party held a fully atteiuled caueus today, under the chairmanship ! of tlie Leader of the Opposition, when [Air. Hallvburton Johnston, the newlyelected member for Raglan, was cordial lv welcomed. ' Discussing business when the caucus 1 adjourned for lunch, Mr. Holland said: "We have had a discussion on the Raglan by-election, and mv own tour in various parts of New Zealand. The view the caucus takes on looking at thc whole position is that all oVer New Zealand there is a steady growth in suppori of the National Party. We have decided to stiniulate this further by inauguratiug a membership campaign' throughout the country." Air. Holland said it was also decided to malce a thorough investigation into the housing question, and the plans of the National Party to relieve the situation. "Our members reported, " lie continued, "that all over New Zealand the position appeared to be becoming worse, and we have set up a speeiai committee, with Air. W. Sullivan, the member for Bay of Plenty, as ohairman, to complete plans for dealing with this problem on an emergency basis. Another committee will investigate and report on the recommendations made by the Select Committee which re ported last year on local governmeni questions. We have had a preliminary discussion on the Bretton Woods Agreement, and a special report is to be considered at the next meeting of the party in Mav." The preparolion of the National Party 's policy for submission to the electors at the next general election was stated by Air. Holland to be aetively m liand.
