MORE RETURNS TO FILL IN

WELLINGTON, March 28. Half-yearly returns are required from employers in general industries and in the buildiug and construction industry, and monthly returns from employers in seasonal industries, under the provisious of regulations gazetted tonight. The returns, for which there will be prescribed fonns, are to give the type of main production, the total employees (males and females), the amount paid in wages in ordinary time and overtime, comments on any marked increases or decreases in employment, and the reasons for any necessity to work shorttime. The Director of Employment or any district employment oiiicer may require an employer to furnish particulars as to the number and class of workers likely to be engaged during any speciiied period, or whose employment has been or is likely to be terminated, for the purpose of obtaining any information in relation to any subsidy paid by the Grown under the Employment Act passed last year. Any oflicer of the National Employment .Service with the authoritv of the Director, may inspect any books, reeords or documents and require their production in an acceptaljle form. failure to comply with the provisions r.f ■ the regulations is punishable by- a fine not oxceeding £25.
