OPIKI MEETING There, was a good attendance at the aniiual meeting of the Opiki Women's Institute held recently. Mrs. Claridge presided. The annual report and drama club's report were presented by Mrs. Claridge. The following were elected offic.ers: — President: Mrs. Claridge; vice-president: Mrs. Kriven; treasurer: Mrs. Graham-Smith; secretary: Mrs. G. Wilde; press correspondent: Mrs:. Percy; committee: Mesdames Patterson, Irwin, AitchisonLPercy^Horn and Miers. A basket coinpetition was won'by Mrs. Gordon Smith. The points prige i f or , bompetitions • resulted : Mrs. Horne 1, Miss jackson 2, Mrs. Irwin 3. Leader of garden circle: Mrs. Wilde; committee: Mesdames Aitchison, Robinson, Larsen, Kriven, Sames, Percy, Cooksley, Olsen, Goshing and Miss M. Wilson. The points prize for the gardening circle was won by Mrs. Aitchison, .with Mrs. Jackson two and Mrs. Irwin 3. Competition winners were: — Cluster: Mrs. Aitchison 1, Mrs. Kriven 2, Mrs. Sames 3. Best bloom: Mrs. Sames 1, Mrs. Aitchison 2, Mrs. Kriven 3. Tomatoes: Mrs. Sames 1, Mrs. Aitchison 2. Jar of fruit: Mrs. Sames 1, Mrs. Aitchison 2, Mrs. Irwin 3. The conipetitions for the April meeting will be cluster, best bloom, three apples and three plain scones. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Gordon, Smith and GrahamSmith. Hostesses for April are Mesdames Robinson, Kriven and Percy. The institute committee met at the residence of Mrs. Claridge when the syllabus for the year was completed. An apology for absence was received from Mrs. Aitchison.
