TRAMPING IN LEVIN
Club to Resume Activities ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING After being in recess throughout the war years, the Levin — Waiopehu Tramping Club decided at a meeting on Tuesday evening to resume fullscale activities. There was an attendance of some thirty ladies and gentlemen, all of whom elected to become members, so that the club will commence with a membership of forty. Those present Were keenly enthusiastic, and within a short time a strong club should again be fun.ctioning. The president (Mr. N. M. Thomson) occupied the^chair and welcomed_.all present. He expressed pleasure at the interest displayed, and said there was now no reason why the club should not be strongly revived. Election of Officers The election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted as follows: — Patron: Mr. G. L. Adkin; president: Mr. N. M. Thomson; vieepresident: Mr. W. H. Ransom; club captain: Mr. P. Stannard; hon. secretary-treasurer : Mr. G. H. Kerslake; trip committee: Miss" A. Moxham and Messrs. P. Stannard, A. Coles and B. Lacey; social committee: Mrs. F. D. Chainey and Misses A. Moxham, C. Ornberg, P. and J. Lacey,' Y. Harvey, T. Nockels. In nominating Mr. Adkin for the office of patron, the president said he had probably the longest association of any with the Tararuas themselves and the club. At the club's foundation ffieeting on May 11, 1927, Mr. Adkin had been elected a vice-president, and had taken a keen interest in the club ever since. Future Activities It was decided to hold a monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday in each month, though on aceount of the Easter holidays that for April would take place on the fifth Tuesday, April 30. ^ The first outing was fixed for Sunday next, March 31, to the Arapaepae Hills. Mr. A. Coles was appointed leader for this trip, while it was arranged that cars leave the post office at 9 a.m. After discussion it was resolved to hold one trip each month, the venue and arrangements to be finalised at the preceding monthly meeting. General The annual subscription was fixed as follows: Ladies 3s 6d, gentlemen 5s, juniors under 18 years 3s 6d. Mr. Adkin then presented to the club a .revised copy of the wellknown . map of the Tararuas drawn by Mr. H. R. Francis and himself. This was gratefully accepted and was the subject of considerable interest during the social hour which followed, when the ladies dispensed supper.'
