/ DUNEDIN, March 25. It is cxpected that a start will be made w.ithiii the next month or two on. the preliminary engineering work for the building of a thousand-patient mental liospital at Cherry Farm, Waikouaiti. It has been announced that Cabinet has given approval to a grant of £250,000 to enable the engineering services to be put in train and the district Public Works engineer, Mr. C. Langbein, said today that a party of men would be oji the site in a few weeks. This initial programme, which will oceupy at least two years, embodies roads, drainage and sewerage systems, water supply and similar work on the property of 70 acrcs. It is an extensive programme since the nltimate plans provide for a series of 50-patient selfcontained villas, in addition to the hospital bloek, administrative and other buildings and, ample recreation areas.
