WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MANAKAU' S ANNUAL MEETING The March meeting of the Manakau W.I. was held as usual in thc Town Hall, Miss Cotter. presiding. There was a large number of members present as this was also the annual meeting. After the usual correspondencc and business had been dealt witn. Mrs. Eggers, an executive memoei of the Federation, presided' during the election of officers, which resulted as follows: President: Mist Cotter; vice-presidents: Mesdamer L. Staples and F. H. Mayman, secretary: Mrs. G. Willis; treasurer. Mrs. R. White; committee: Mesdames Bennett, Barberry, Reid, Staples, Mayman, Neilson, Bryan1. and Shepherd; librarian: Mrs. Shepherd. Mrs. Dorset was placed in charge of competitions and sicx correspondence. Mrsr Eggers congratulated the office holders on their reports, and the institute generally on its activities during the year. She also gave a very helpful talk on institute affairs, and was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. Miss Cotter presented her with a bouquet of fiowers. During the afternoon a report on the recent flower show was read, which proved to be a very successful one due in a large way to J>he splendid work of the joint secretaries, Mrs. R. Bennett and Mrs. E. Bryant. An opportunity was also taken to make a presentation to Mrs. J. De Simas, a very active and popular member who is leaving the district.
