LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

THE LEVIN AERODROME Sir, — It is disappointing to read 1 iviews such as those given expresjsion to in your correspondence lcolumn yesferday by "Old Timer." Jl wish to range myself alongside '■"1950" and endorse his remarks. The Levin Borough Council . must buy the aerodrome site and mqke adequate provision for the future. Wnat greater advertisem'ent and a means of attracting new industries to the town could we have than to see that our Civic fathers had made this move. We would have the eyes of directors of companies whb at the present time are on the lookout for new sites for factories, handy to the capital city, immediately focussed on our progressive little town. I am only a young married man, Sir, without a family as yet, but hope to soon become a ratepayer of Levin and a father as well, and I | will not rpind paying a few extra { pence in rates if, when my family | grows up and goes on the labour ! market, the members of it can choose a good • position in their home town, not as it is to-day with I the bulk of our young people having 'to go to the city to find their particular calling. Perhaps "Oid Timer" did not read the particularly fine address by Rotarian E. Tnomas in the next column to the letter which has disturbed his "nice quiet life," in which an appeal was made for the youth of the country. I wbuld suggest, Sir, that he and any others of the' same mind read it and then get right behind our council and push ror a municipal airport. — Yours, etc., "A YOUNG UN." Levin, March 22.
