Personal Mr. Jim Wastie is at present a patient' in the Palmerston Nortn Hospital, where he has undergone an operation. Mr. Wastie is reported to be making good progress. The funeral of George Leonard Edlin, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Edlin, took place at Otaki yesterday, when • tne remains were .interred in the Maori cemetery in the presence of a representative gathenng, including a number of school children who carried beautiful floral emblems. Canon Fry conducted the service both. at the Rangiatea and the graveside, while a hymn in Maori was rendered. Mr. Wi Nicholl also spoke at the graveside. The parents have been the recipients of a number of sympathetic messages. Sports Abandoned Owing to the inclement weather on Wednesday the evening sports meeting to have been held on the domain did nol eventuate. Motor Collision A mishap occurred on the OtakiManakau Road early yesterday morning when a car ran into the back of Mr. Capper's lorry, with the result that the car was badly damaged and had to be taken into a garage for repairs. Luckily, no one was injured.
