CHAMPION PAIRS CONTEST The champion fours in connection with the Wellington Bowling Centre are being played to-day on the Wellington Club's greens. The junior champion singhes are being played on the Kelburn Club s ?rppri s The official closing of the Wellington Bowling Centre's season will take place on Saturday, April 6, on the Karori green. The presentation of the season's trophies will be made.

Meeting of Delegates The treasurer's statement of receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance of £420 19s 7d. The tournament committee reported (a) that owing to weather conditions it had been decided to abandon play in the senior and iunior pennants and this action, was approved; (b) that after consideration of correspondence with a member of the Wellington Club regarding the failure to complete engagements in the Xmas fours, it was decided to accept the explanation and that no further action be taken; and (c) 12 clubs notified that their greens would not be available for play at Easter and

three clubs stated their greens would be open for play at Eascer. It was decided to cancel the Easter fours tournament owing to sufficient greens not being available. Hazelwood stressed the advisabuity of not granting applications for one day tournaments that may be made by those clubs who stated their greens would not be available at Enster.

In regard to green research, Mr. Horton submitted a report in connection with his visit to the following clubs in the northern district: Otaki, Otaki Railway, Paraparaumu Beach, Raumati South, Paekakariki and Plimmerton. Mr. Horton also submitted that he would be making regular visits to the clubs within the centre. Several members expressed appreciation of the report forwarded by Mr. Hortonv and it was agreed that a letter of appreciative thanks for his work and reports should be forwarded. The president reported that nffiniai visits had been made to

Otaki and Paekakariki, where the visitors had been most hospitably entertained. It was decided that appreciative letters of thanks should be forwarded to the Otaki and Paekakariki Clubs for the gefierous hospitality extended to the visitors in connection with the official visits of the centre. Mr. Hadwin submitted that clubs had been put to considerable expense in connection with the Xmas fours and New Year fours, for which dhe allowance had not been considered when payments to the several clubs was being made. It was ' decided that the matter should receive the desired consideration, and a report on same is to be submitted at the next meeting of the centre. 'Mr. Norrie reported that clubs were experiencing great difficulty in securing supplies of tea and sugar and suggested that the Rationing Controller should be interviewed regarding the same. Failing any tangible result, it would appear advisable to interview the Minister in charge of the department concerned. The position as indicated was approved by several delegates. and Messrs. Fletcher and Hadwin were appointed to make enquiries and submit a report to the next meeting of the centre. Mr. McKenzie submitted that the providing.of suitable scoring boards and score cards should receive consideration with a view to the same being standarised. Mr. Fletcher reported that the "question of procuring a standard scoring board was at present receiving attention, and at the next meeting of the centre he would submit a report thereon. ____________
