Freak Bean A freak bean grown by Mr. Thomas, of Rahui Road, has been eft at this office. To a certam extent it resembles a butterbean but the pods are more of the pea variety. Red Cross Conference On the occasion of the visit ot conference delegates from the N.Z. Red Cross Society, a service will be held at the Church Hall, Tasman Beach, on Sunday at 11 a.m., when the Rev. W. B. Pickering will officiate. Welcome Home A very pleasant evening was spent recently at Te Horo, when a number of returned men, including Messrs. R. Walker, J. Larsen, J. Guthrie and R. MacDonald, were entertained. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Messrs. Joe Sinkinson and R. Blackburne. Mr. Vic. Cottle was a capable M.C., Mrs. Geange (secretary) had the support of a good committee, | while splendid music was supplied by Mr. George Hitchings. Mr. C. Walker gave the men a warm welcome, extending to all best wishes for their future happiness. All present responded and were warmly applauded.
