LAND FOR INDUSTRIES
FOIIR ACRES SET ASIDE A step which will do much towards encouraging secondary industries, either new enterprise or others seeking to leave the Wellington metropolitan area in the trend of decentralisation, was taken by the Levin Bor-^ ough Council at its monthly meeting on Monday. Acting on the recommenda•tion of its town planning committee, the Council resolved to proceed immediately with the preliminaries needed to make an area of four and a-half acres, beloriging to the borough •Nand1,tadjoiiliilg the ^asworks/ available to suitable industrial firms, It will be available in lots to suit applicants, who in turn will be required to provide work for a certain minimum number of employees on suitable terms. These details will be the subject of a further committee report to the Council in the near future. The Mayor (Mr. H. B. Burdekin) commented that the decision would give firms access to land in quite a convenient locality, and which was not suitabie for housing.
