PUBLIC REST ROOMS

A meeting was held in the councii chambers on Monday night to discuss the proposed ladies' rest room, for which the money was raised at a carnival some months ago. Those present were: Mr. R. E. Downes (Mayor) and Messrs. R. Hook, R. R. Lind, H. Aitchison and D. Jones and Mesdames E. L. Hyde and C. Guerin. A motion that tenders be called for the erection of the building was put to the meeting and defeated. It was finally decided to withhold any activity in the matter for the meantime, pending th£ result of a meeting between the Shannon , Borough Councii and the Shannon branch of the Returned Services Association connected with the war memorial for Shannon, and then call a- public meeting in three week's time.
