WEEK-END BOWLING

SHANNON CLUB'S TOURNEY The weather was fine on Sunday for the Shannon Bowling Club's tournament, and the large number of bowlers who gathered fully enjoyed a delightful day's sport on che greens. After the heavy rain of the past few days the greens were in good order, and some excellent bowling was witnessed. For the second time within three weeks a Foxton rink under Mr. Dunn as skip was successful in winning the tournament. In an interesting finish the Foxton team and a Shannon rink under Mr. R. Mills were equal, and in the play-off the .Foxton team proved the wimiers. Teams which were present from Foxton, Levin and Otaki were as follows: — Foxton: Messrs O'Leary, Mohekey, Robinson and Dunn (s). Levin: Messrs- Mudgway, Ward, de Malmanche and Childs (s). Otaki: Messrs Bartosh, Nicolson, Cahill and Grey (s); Messrs Merwood, Baker, Walsh and Merwood (s) . The Shannon rinks were : Messrs T. Bell, K. Batt, R. Bibby, R. Mills (s); Messrs Karena, Birss, Knowles, Morrison (s) ; Messrs Peni, V. Pope, Thorne, L. Hook (s) ; Messrs Collins, Bateman, Wilson, Alexander (s). The wins secured by each rink were as follows: — Dunn four; Childs, Mills and Grey three each; L. Hook and Merwood two each; Morrison one, and Alexander nil.
