OTAKI BOWLING CLUB

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of .the Otaki Bowling Club was held last night, the president, General R. Young, occupying the c'hair. It was pointed out that the date of the Oiliver shield match with Otaki Railway had been nxed for March 23, but that that club* was unable to meet its obligation on that day. — It was therefore decided that as the Otaki Railway Club was closing its green on March 30, an endeavour is to be made to sedure another date, the match to be played on the Otaki green if necessary. The dato,°of the match with Karori on March 30, at Karori, will be adhered to, while the match : with Levin at Levin on April 6, and against Levin at Otaki will also stand. A letter was read from the Wellington Centre stating that it fully appreciated the hospitality of the Otaki Club on its recent visit. It was decided to ask Levin the number of rinks that the ciub desired Otaki to send. It was considered that seven, probably eight, could be sent from Otaki if desired. Mr. Horton,. green supervisor, reported that he had inspected the club's green, which he considered very satisfactory. He submitted plans for the next season. The chairman paid a tribute to the good work done by Otaki's green supervisor, Mr. Stan Merwood. He I assured him that for next season money would be available for green : improvement, and that there would i be no need to stint work. It was agreed to secure a quantity | of soil in readiness for next season, ! this to be sterilised and piaced in : the shed ready for use. Mr. Horton assured the club that ! the present condition of the green" 1 was such that it could be used over Easter. It was resolved that club cham- ' pionship matches be completed by 1 the week-end.
