I.MJONESIANS ATXACK PATROL •r' Received Tuesday 1.15 a.m. BATAVIA, March 18. British artillery opened fire at b(>th Scurabaya and Cemarang aftei Indouesiriis attacked patrols with mortars and sniall arms. Indonesians set fire to ho ises at a refugee centrc at Bandoeng, in western Java, but Allied troops extbiguished the iircs despite sniping. Fiutlier fires were started at night ancl the Gurkhas' positions were engagcd by mortars, machinegiuis and grenades. The Japanese comnionder at Ban doeng handed over to the Allied Comlii ind a Japanese who, it is alleged, seeured arms for 30 Japanese deserters so that. they could join the Indonesian iorces, and also ende.avoured to porsuade cther Japanese to desert. The two sub-committees appointed at tho last meeting of the Dutch and Indoucvian delegates v/ill report to Sir Aichibald Clark-Kerr, Dr. Van Mook and Mr. Sjahrir tomorrov/. They have been examining in detail scctions of the Dutch plan and the Indonesian counter-proposals. It is understood that' hn agreemcnt on general principles has hot yet been reached by Dr. Van Mook and Mr. Sjahrir.
