WEDDING BELLS
■ IRETON — AMYES On the evening of January .31, 1946, at St. John's Anglican Church, Feilding, the marriage of Muriel Olwen, elder daughter of Mr. and the late Mrs. V. H. E. Amyes, of Feilding to Richard William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Ireton, Levin, was solemnised, Archdeacon F. H. Petrie being the offlciating vicar. Miss A. Funston played the nuptial music. The church had been beautifully decorated with hvdrangeas and vases of pastel shaded poppies, by friends of the bride. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a gown of white slipper satin cut on lines of classic simplicity, the fitting low-waisted bodice having a square neck, edged with a frill, and a design of "mother-of-pearl" sequins decorated the shoulders. The full skirt fell gracefully to form a long train on which was worked a design of "mother-of-pearl" sequins. Elbow length sleeves were worn and a string oi pearls finished the neckline. The long white plain tulle veil was held in place by a white gladiolus and a sprig of maidenhair fern. To complete the toilette she carried an exquisite sheaf of white gladioli and maidenhair fern. The bride's sister, Miss Aidney Amyes was maid. Her gown of apricot net, appliqued with a large floral design on the circular skirt and shoulder, was outlined with sequins. A frill softened the neckline, sleeves and waistline. A dainty toque of apricot shaded rosebuds was worn on her heaa, ana 'she carried a matching sheaf 'bouquet of gladioli and carnations. jA lovely cameo necklace and bangle, a present of the bridegroom, completed her toilette. Mr. D. F. J. Batten supported the bridergroom. After the ceremony the guests were entertainM Ka, reception , in fhe Rainbow Tearooms.' Mrs. e!"b. Bealing, a friend of the bride, received the guests wearing a model pink frock with embroidered ipanels, with matching hat and !brown accessories. She wore a ! spray of pink carnations. She was tassisted by Mrs. T. H. Ireton, mother 'of the bridegroom, who was attired in a rust ensemble with matching accessories completed with a spray ■of small mixed pastel shaded ; flowers. Mr. A. J. Geary proposed 'the toast to the bride and groom. and numerous telegrams were read! Later when the bride appeared f.or travelling she wore a fawn linen suit, with green accessories and carried a tailored fawn coat. The happy couple spent their honeymoon in the South Island. They were recipients of many beautiful gifts.
