Thi. number of registered farms in Ihe district was limited and there was no possibility. of increasing' the supply from further afield. When Mr. Innes and another departmental ofticer, Mr. W. A. It is understood that this proposal is slightly difl'erent from that adopted by the council early in Deccmber and will probably call for further deliberatious when the council meets again next week. Mr. Innes left to-rlay for Rotorua in eonipany with Mr. Cowell, and is ex peeted to •return to Wanganui in about a uionth to see what tlie council thinks of the new proposal.' Tliree months ago Mr. Innes met the council to put forward a suggestion that the council should ask the Govern ment. to assume complete control of thc central milk depot at Wanganui without anv finaneial liabilitv to the council, and that it should appoint a board of management with City Council representation to niu the depot as a public utilitv.
