MR. WALSH AND THE "TORY PRESS"
In a statement tonight on his recent report to the National Council of thc Federation of Labour, Mr. F. P. Walsh said the purpose of his report had been tcwiassist , -thc National Council in the consideration of the best contribution fcho workers could make to thc solution of the present economic difficulties. The report was made to a body representing the trade unionists of i\ew Zealand. "If I had been addressing the repre- [ sentatives of some other section oi the community, manufacturers or farmers for instance, I would have directed my rcmarks to the consideration of how they coiild make a larger contribution to the common good," said Mr. Walsh. ' ' In that event the Tory press and other enemies of the Labour movement would not have commended my words as enthusiastically as they have commended some parts of the report to the National Council of the Labour Federation."
